Parks and crazies. The two go together like peanut butter and bananas. Like fried okra and ham. Like beans and cornbread.
Amos and his mama traveled far and wide today to Rocky Mountain Lake Park, about 4.5 to 5 miles round trip. We huffed it with the trusty jogging stroller to the park, then Phil met us there on his dandy bike. We ate a nice picnic on a table sprayed with graffiti, then we played on the playground. I think I was the only mother there among about five nannies. Then, a horde of 9-month-old babies showed up (not on their own, mind you). It blew Amos' mind.
Phil trucked back home on his bike while Amos and I played some more. He giggled and squealed while swinging, and he kicked at my face when I helped him to hold on to a higher level of the jungle gym. Parental abuse: it starts now.
Note our fancy (free) joggin' stroller.
A creepy, loud guy with a puppy was hanging around a bit too close to the playground. Hey, creepy, loud guy: don't do that. You creeped the nannies and me out. Talking to little kids and luring them with your "talking" puppy is not going to win you adoration from the ladies. Although, I suspect it was not the ladies you were interested in.
Oh, pedophiles. How cute are they, now really?!
Amos and I huffed around the lake for a bit, watching the water, the ducks, and random shifty people who were fishing. Perhaps I am judging too much. But, if you bring a dirty blanket and a bottle of booze to the lake along with your fishing pole, you shouldn't expect me to greet you with a howdy'do.
I've returned home with a sunburn (80 degrees!) and a smile on my face. If this isn't the best way ever to lose weight, I don't know what is.

12 beautiful people muttered something back:
It's kind of amazing how many parks we have in our neighborhood that we've never visited. Now Amos will force us to get out and see what type of creepy folks hang out in each one. Perhaps by the end of the summer, we'll be able to prepare a chart to compare and contrast the types of derelicts each one attracts. So far we have:
Rocky Mountain Lake Park: Creepy guys with puppies.
Fred Astaire park: Lurky, non-threatening beer drinkers.
gorgeous pics again! It's awful how obvious some of those sickos are isn't it? :( At least all the kids were being supervised...
yeah...Denver is the city of parks, and some of them are "colorful" but I kind of like the palette.
Much more interesting than the burb parks with Lexus on parade. Lexi? Lexus's?
I'm actually more concerned about the puppy right now :(
Your baby is so gorgeous. Yay!
mommies must be drawn to the lake in spring. We are going to Town lake and Zilker this weekend. (Oh now it's Lady Bird Lake) and we shall walk and picnic and ride the Zilker Zepher.
We're just starting to see 70 degree weather in and around Chicagoland. I so want to get out and play. My poor clubs have been cooped up in the cold garage all winter and they want to get out in the sun and play, too. As for my kids ... they're on their own.
I've always loved playing in the park. I think I need to do that, soon. Great pictures. And I have to agree with your opinion of the creepy guys, whether fishing or walking the dog.
80 degrees!!! oh wait your temperature is in Fahrenheit. At the moment here is 8 degrees Celsius around 45 Fahrenheit and it 6.15pm. Last night by 10.30pm it was -1 Celsius, I'm having to clear my windscreen of ice every morning, hope you are enjoy the sun.
In Britain we used Fahrenheit when it's hot (70) and Celsius when it's cold (-4)
That second picture of your baby boy is stunning!
Your baby is too cute! That sucks, though, about the creepy guy. *shudders*
Also, I'd emailed you but am not sure it went through. I'd like to feature you on my blog. Would you email me about it?
That second shot of Amos is magnificent!
So glad to see you guys are having a good time. We, too, are enjoying the warmer weather greatly. Ain't life in Spring with a young'un grand? ;-)
It's going to be 80 here today too- yay!
Amos is such a doll. Sorry about the sunburn though - yeouch.
