That boy

Since the old man decided to ditch me on Valentine's Day evening for a night of comedy (at least he's getting paid for it), Amos and I had a wee photo session to pass the time.

It is not easy to wrangle a baby, get him to smile, and then take a picture. Someday I'll get it right.

I'm gonna get yer nose...

I'm going to take your nose...

What's that? Is that something else I can put in my mouth?

What's that, Mama?

Sleepy baby is tired of the limelight.

Look up here

Finally, a smile! I'm not admitting that it took a game of peekaboo to get this grin...

Finally, a smile!

30 beautiful people muttered something back:

He is so gorgeous! And look how he has grown. Also? The hair! I am in love.

Sorry, I lurk too much and don't comment enough. I will try and do better.

clickmom said...

Ditto on the hair. I mean your hair. It's so shiny and healthy looking. And the kid, he's cute too. Hope he gets your hair and you let him be a long shaggy haired teenager because OMG you have such gorgeous hair.

I know I am sounding a little hair freakish here. I'm normal, really pathetically normal. You have great hair.

Kimberly said...

You are both so cute!

I love your hair - I've wanted hair like that my whole life. So pretty.

Suzanne said...

He is so cute, smile or no smile.

BTW, Ed asks if you've ever been on Dirty Jobs? When I said you make soap, he immediately thought of the episode where they made goat's milk soap!

Phil "Has Less Hair Than Amos" Porter said...

Wow! What a cute baby! His dad must be a real looker.

Suzanne- As the soapmaker's apprentice, I can guarantee that soapmaking is a surprisingly dirty job. I have a pair of jeans I wore for soapmaking that I call the dirtiest pants in the world because of how much oil they soaked up.

Allie Bear said...

Soooooooo cute and they're right, your hair is gorgeous. Why can't I have pretty hair like that?
PS pictures of your son give me the overwhelming urge to squish his cheeks, adorable.

e said...

You both are just adorable! Great pictures, totally worth the wrangling.

Anne said...

Those are great photos! My kiddo starts squinting as soon as the orange light on the digital camera comes on, so truly good shots are few these days!

Oh boy, you got yourself a cutie, too... My pics from today are one of my oldest my third oldest. They sure do look alike in those photos.

XOXOX

Eve said...

Looks like you two had lots of fun while daddy was out getting paid.

MarysMom said...

Certanily, mom had the wider smile. So cute!!! Both of you!

Chat Wrecker said...

What a cutie! I hear ya on the wrangling...my brother-in-law claims to have the world's largest collection of pictures of the back of my son's head.

LceeL said...

Nice hair. I'm just trying to figure out who's cuter.

Angie said...

Great batch of pictures!

frangela said...

What a cute bug!

And, of course, ditto on the hair! :)

"He's got Bette Davis' eyes" lyrics were running through my head when I read your post.

I have stick-straight hair and envy those gorgeous curls. Le sigh.

Amos is working the camera!

You both look radiant
So I'm going to assume these pics are tequila-free :)

Aurora said...

What spectacular blue eyes he has. It looks like you could sail away in them.

Stephen said...

In the 3rd photo, Amos is say enough pictures I want to go to bed or Mam I've think I've had too many tequila's.

Amanda said...

Hahahaha, Stephen! Poor Amos.

Sarah, I don't know if I've told you lately that you are one hot glowing momma.

I am jealous of your beautiful hair, and like I said, you have the glow - which may be from the tequila -- but still, you look great!

I love photo time.

Angie H said...

First of all, Amos looks just like his daddy. Second of all, you could seriously do Pantene commercials. Your hair is so healthy and shiny. What kind of shampoo/conditioner do you use?

dawn224 said...

he has the sweetest little face ever :)

Veronica - Welcome back! Thank ya for the compliments on the boy. He says, "Hoowah!"

Clickmom - Haha! I had no idea that there would be so many comments about my hair. Seriously. Hahaha. Thank you.

Kimberly - Thank ya! I owe my curly hair genes to my dad. I don't Amos has the curlies, but he's cute nonetheless.

Suzanne - Soapmaking is an incredibly dirty process. We went from making small batches to GIANT batches, and the dirty factor multiplies by a million when you scale it up. We weren't on "Dirty Jobs", but I had a conversation with Dave Attell once about how I wanted him to come make soap with us for his "Insomniacs" show. Too bad he wasn't filming anymore. I think he would have gone for it.

Phil "has sheen" - Yeah. Ask J Marc about who his daddy is.
Oooooohhhhh!!!

Allie Bear - Thank ya! His cheeks are mighty squooshable.
You know what? Lots of times, I was jealous of ladies with straight hair. The grass is always greener on someone else's head, I suppose. haha.

imaginary binky said...

E - Thank ya! Most of those pics came out by sheer luck. I had to snap whenever his head was pointed the right way. Most of the rejects have me with my mouth open wide, I guess to encourage him to smile. hehehe.

Anne - That's a smart kid you have. I'm squinty when the light flashes, too. I have to WILL my eyes to stay open.

Secret Agent Mama - Those pics were of two kids?! Haha! I thought it was one kid.

imaginary binky said...

Eve - Indeed! Sometimes it feels like we're throwing a party when our parents went away on vacation. I can be completely silly with Amos when we're alone.

Marysmom - Haha. Yes. Picture-taking activities are far more fun for me. Amos is all, "Whateverrrr."

Chat wrecker - Exactly! haha! Most of the pics are of Amos facing the wrong way, or I have some stupid look on my face. I guess this is why people pay photographers?

imaginary binky said...

LceeL - Aw, mister. Keep talking like that, and I might have to put you in my pocket and pet you forever and ever.

Angie - Thank ya! If only you could see the rejects...

Frangela - Aw, thank ya! Somehow, Amos manages to maintain his high level of cuteness.

imaginary binky said...

Cajunvegan - Yup. Kim Karnes (Carnes?) was singing about future Amos when she crooned that song.
I bet your locks are lovely.

Judy - Indeed, these are tequila-free pics. There would be more blur and more sass if tequila was involved. Also, I'd be strumming a guitar I don't know how to play, zooming off to "Nashville Star" auditions, and then fighting people with beer bottles. That's a lot of pics to take.

Aurora - Aw, thanks! His daddy has the same eyes. Is it any wonder I fell in love with him?

imaginary binky said...

Stephen - Hahaha. Yup. I need to cut down on Amos' drinking habits.

Amanda - You make me blush with girly delight. I'm still waiting for you to fix up the bedroom for me.

imaginary binky said...

Angie H - Hahaha! Thank ya. Funny you should mention that, because for some reason, I walk around swooshing my hair back and forth while a mysterious wind whips up and makes my locks flow around my head like an angel. I wink at imaginary people while my hair whips around in heavenly delight.
I think the current stock of shampoo/conditioner is Sunsilk De Frizz and (YES!) Pantene conditioner for blondes.

Here is my secret for maintaining curlies:
I use a spray bottle filled with water and a few dollops of whatever conditioner I use. After my shower, I spray my hair (not the roots) with the mixture. It helps to make the curls pretty, keeps the sheen, and deters the frizzies. Without it, my hair can go flat or frizzy.

dawn224 - Thank ya! I say just about every day: "Amos is the cutest baby ever." I'm sure other kids are cute, but in this household, Amos is king.
